School of Sustainability is a testimony and testament to Xavier University, Bhubaneswar’s commitment to join SDG global movement. To spearhead this movement, we need committed and competent leaders. School of Sustainability has designed a unique program BSc in Sustainable Development to create better leaders for a sustainable world connecting people, planet, peace, prosperity and partnership.

Eligibility Criteria

Class XII (or equivalent) in any discipline, with at least 55% marks in aggregate. Final year +2 students, who expect their final results by May 2020, can also apply.

Program Objectives :

  • To foster a new academic eco-system that engages the learning community to develop deeper understanding of the principles and approaches to sustainable development.
  • To build the cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains of the learners who can promote values of environmental justice, peace and prosperity at individual and institutional level as leaders and agents of change.

Programme Structure:

This program contains 29 courses and each course is of 5 credits. Therefore, the total credit is 145 (29 x 5). We have a capstone project leading to dissertation that carries 10 credits. The overall credit therefore is 155 (145 + 10)



The Xavier University will award the Bachelor’s Degree to the students who successfully complete classroom and field learning equivalent to 155 credits including capstone project and Internship and fulfill the prescribed academic requirements of the program. The degree is awarded at the Annual Convocation which is usually held in the month of March/April.
